Aruba is a 33 km long island of the Lesser Antilles in the Southern Caribbean Sea. This island lies 27 km north of the coast of Venezuela. Together with Bonaire and Curacao, it forms a group referred to as the ABC islands. Arubans are Dutch citizens. The capital is Oranjestad. Unlike much of the Caribbean region, Aruba has a dry climate and an arid cactus-strewn landscape. This climate has helped tourism as visitors to Aruba can reliably expect warm, sunny weather. It lies outside the hurricane belt.
Aruba enjoys one of the highest standards of living in the Caribbean region including a low unemployment rate. About three quarters of the Aruban gross national product is earned through tourism or related activities. The exchange rate of the Aruban florin as of today is 2.82 to £1.
The island has a population of just over 100,000 inhabitants and doesn’t have major cities. There are six main ones, some of which contain beautiful, ornate buildings. Oranjestad shows some fine examples.
As in many Caribbean countries, the holiday of Carnival is also an important one in Aruba. The Carnival Celebration starts from the beginning of January till the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday with a large parade on the last Sunday of the festivities (Sunday before Ash Wednesday). So if Carnival is your thing, why not book a holiday in Aruba Island to include this Sunday especially. English is known by many and English usage has also grown due to tourism. Flights are plentiful in Europe through Schipol airport in The Netherlands to Aruba. There are public buses on the island which run from 3.30 a.m. to 12.30 am. 365 days of the year, so it is very easy to get around enjoying all that Aruba has to offer – the beaches, places of interest, cliff-climbing, nightlife, shopping, Spas and Health Clubs, sailing, water-sports, fishing, and dining. The sea is calm and perfect for swimming along the entire 7-mile strip from famous Palm Beach to stunning Eagle Beach, and onwards to secluded bays for a private swim accessible by steps down to the water with gentle currents and abundant underwater life. Small private vans also provide the transportation services in certain areas such as Hotel Area (sounds ideal), San Nicolas, Santa Cruz and Noord. There are many places of interest on Aruba including Palm Beach, Tierra Del Sol Golf Course (for the keen golfer of course), and Eagle Beach to name but a few. There is family fun, and romance to be had by the bucket-load on Aruba Island, together with adventures and pampering. On Aruba you will be welcomed with a smile and treated like an honoured guest – just what you need. You deserve a relaxing break, and this island and our special resort hotel experience is absolutely going to give it to you.
